Without warning, our Whirlpool washer agitator stopped spinning! Adding insult to injury, the lack of spin was accompanied by a loud and obnoxious screach! Thank you “ChrisFix” for producing this video that helped me fix this for my family. Amazon had the replacement part for this repair for under Five dollars. The best news for you might be that most broken washers need this same part and and process to fix the problem!
Broken Whirlpool Motor Coupler
This is the culprit that broke, causing a heck of a screeching noise and no agitation!
Old Part To Replace
This triangular piece didn’t break, but it’s included in the replacement and should certainly be pried off and swapped out during this operation.
This housing enclosed the old part.
Remove the two bolts to get to the old part. Only the part connected to the motor cracked and broke, but it would be silly not to replace this half while the repair was underway.
Broken part replaced!
A rubber mallet allowed me to seat this part on the shaft over the metal ribs in the sleave.
New Parts Mounted On The Motor
The new triangular and new rubber piece mounted onto the dusted out motor.
